Here's a rundown of a few basic things you'll need to know before participating in the TCG. If you're confused, or feel that there's something I missed out on, feel free to e-mail me!
Trading Online trading card games run primarily through trading. Members put up an e-mail address or form on their webpage in order for other players to contact them and offer trades. In order to trade, all you need to do is contact another trader who owns a card that you'd like and offer them a card in return. (Preferably one that they're looking for-- most traders keep a wishlist on their trading page.) If your trade is accepted, reply to the player with the card you offered them attached and they should reply to you with the card you desire. It is VERY important that you take down the card that you traded at this point and upload the new one. Players should also keep a trade log in order to keep track of what they've traded and earned from games or contests. An example of one is shown below: July 28, 2006: Traded Aku A.RA.SHI 04 for Real Face 12, & traded my official Masuda Takahisa photo for her Subaru Shibutani.Be descriptive with your trade logs and keep a record of all your trades and earned cards, official photos & CDs. For a better example of trading logs, visit other member's pages and get a feel for how to organize your own page. Earning Cards An important aspect of TCGs is earning cards. This makes it easier to trade with other players, because the more cards you have, the more you have to offer in your trades. Aside from the weekly games & occasional contests, here are a few ways to earn cards: DONATION: The TCG is always in need of some help: sending in buttons or badges for other members to use can help build up your deck! Click here to learn more about donating to the site. Mastering Eventually, you'll have worked hard enough to master a set. Mastering means that you have collected all the cards in one deck. Countdown has a total of 15 cards minimum in each deck-- some special decks are larger, but all regular group/solo decks have 15. In this case, you'll fill out the form for a master and we'll send you a master badge, as well as 3 random cards and a card of your choice! Examples of master badges are shown below. The 1st Master badge is given to the first person to master a deck, it has different text as well as a different image. All traders who master after that are given a normal badge.
Levels In Countdown, you are aiming for your Debut, but of course you have to take the steps to get there. :) Everybody starts as a Junior. You will then go through Levels 1-4 before your reach your debut, giving Countdown 6 different levels.
When you level up, it's your job to tell me so! Go to the level up form in the paperwork section to recieve your prizes. Countdown only has 6 levels, so to make it a little more challening to level up, extra items have been added. Since most TCGs require only card count to level up, please read more about albums, singles, official photos & the JE shop below. Tickets You can earn tickets through contests and games. With tickets, you will be able to enter the JE Shop and purchase cards or items to help you in your game. Different colored tickets mean different things: white ticket: a basic ticket. it has a value of one ticket in the je shop. three white tickets will earn you a random card.
pink ticket: another basic ticket, worth more. it has a value of three tickets in the je shop, and one pink ticket will earn you a random card.
gold ticket: unique to other tickets, because they can only be exchanged for one choice card. these are given on special occasions only!
JE Shop At the JE Shop, you can trade your tickets in for cards, or purchase CDs, official photos and magazines of your favorite JE groups. You will need a certain amount of each in order to level up after you exit the Juniors. Basic info is listed below, but you can find more about items and purchasing them in the shop itself, so please read carefully before you buy!
Status/Quitting You can change your status under the paperwork section of the TCG if you are too busy or are going on a long vacation. This should prevent people from flooding your inbox with trades while you're gone. It's up to youif you want to mark a hiatus or not, by no means is it required. If you do choose to do this, I will mark your name with a to show other members who view the traders list.
If you would like to quit the TCG, please let me know! Zip your cards (or at least notify me beforehand so I can save what I need to off of your page) and e-mail them to me with a notice that you're quitting. This way I can redistribute any photos you've purchased from the JE Shop, deal with any of your masteries and take you off the traders list. |
